Biogas Cost Redistribution

The biogas cost redistribution rule in the Gas Network Access Charge Regulation (§ 20b GasNEV) has equally distributed the costs for the network connection and the entry of biogas to the network fees payable by the market area-wide transmission network operators in Germany since 2014.

The biogas cost redistribution amount determined by the German market area operators GASPOOL and NetConnect Germany (NCG) for 2021 amounts to 0,6250 euros per kilowatt hour per annum (€/kWh/h/a).

Cost announcement to the transmission network operators

The biogas entry network operators forecast their biogas costs detailed in § 20 b GasNEV for the following calendar year (a+1). Only costs for which reliable information is available (concluded contracts) are considered.

The biogas entry network operators report the forecast biogas costs for the following calendar year (a+1) directly to the transmission network operators, to whose network the biogas entry operator's network is directly or indirectly connected across several network levels, by 31 August every year. At the same time, they also report the actual biogas costs for the previous year (a-1) to the transmission network operators by 31 August every year.
