We transport gas, naturally.
Our infrastructure helps shape a climate-neutral future.
We operate the transmission system in eastern Germany and are responsible for the reliable and efficient transport of gaseous energy – today and tomorrow.
We operate the transmission system in eastern Germany and ensure the reliable and efficient transport of gaseous energy – today and tomorrow.
We actively help shape the energy market of the future. We contribute ideas and develop sustainable solutions for our infrastructure. This requires reliable technology, extensive experience and our most important asset: a committed team!
Together with our downstream network operators, we organise the seamless transport of gas—to 442 network interconnection points and four cross-border points.
Our headquarters are located in Leipzig. But the ONTRAS team is spread across four network areas and several sites—from Bad Doberan in the north to Sayda in the Ore Mountains.
Our network area
We are actively helping to pave the way towards a climate-neutral energy future. 23 biogas plants are already connected and two power-to-gas plants feed hydrogen and synthetic methane into our network.
Focus on hydrogen
The establishment of a functioning hydrogen economy is critical for achieving the climate targets. ONTRAS is committed to developing a comprehensive hydrogen network in eastern Germany – integrated into the European hydrogen infrastructure. To this end, we are involved in national and European committees and are implementing a number of innovative and sustainable hydrogen projects. The two IPCEI projects doing hydrogen and Green Octopus Mitteldeutschland alone involve over 900 kilometres of pipelines by 2030.
Focus on people
Trust, commitment and creative drive are the foundation of our success. That’s why we are focussed on the people who we work with. We support a solid work/life balance, a positive work atmosphere and a safe social environment. We work together to shape our working environment in a modern and digital world—by opening our minds, appreciating what has come before and constantly staying in motion.
