Change of management at ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH
Next year, Gunar Schmidt will join Ralph Bahke as the new Managing Director of ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH (ONTRAS). He will succeed long-time Managing Director Uwe Ringel, who will then retire as planned.
Gunar Schmidt, currently still Managing Director of Stadtwerke Energie Jena Pößneck GmbH, will join ONTRAS in spring 2024. The graduate engineer and business economist has held various management positions in the energy industry since2002. "As Managing Director of ONTRAS, I will be committed to the energy transition capability of our gas infrastructure and, together with the employees, optimally develop ONTRAS for the future challenges," Schmidt said.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Hans-Joachim Polk commented on the personnel decision: "With Gunar Schmidt, we are gaining an outstanding manager with proven expertise in the energy market and a large portion of empathy to successfully continue the transformation of ONTRAS that has already begun."
Uwe Ringel has been a member of the ONTRAS Management Board since the company was founded in 2006, responsible for network marketing and, since 2010, for operations and safety. Ringel began his career in 1984 as a graduate engineer for gas supply technology in the dispatching department of today's VNG AG. Among other things, Ringel is involved in various DVGW committees and in technical advisory boards of the German Fuel Institute and TÜV Süd.
