The Vereinigung der Fernleitungsnetzbetreiber Gas e. V. (FNB Gas) is the association of transmission system operators, i.e. the operators of the major supra-regional and cross-border gas transmission pipelines in Germany.

The key task of FNB Gas is to combine and coordinate the specialist interchange of information between transmission system operators. In addition, the association cooperates closely with national and European institutions, establishments and associations in all areas related to the business activities of transmission system operators.

Apart from performing specialist coordination functions, the association represents its members as a point of contact for politicians, the media and the public. FNB Gas represents the positions of the transmission system operators and ensures that the performance capabilities and potentials of gas transmission infrastructure are presented transparently in the era of the energy transition.

The main focuses of the association’s activities are the Network Development Plan Gas, which has been drawn up by the transmission system operators since 2012, the joint capacity platform PRISMA and market area cooperation between system operators.
The Association was established at the end of 2012 and has operated an office in Berlin since April 2013.

PRISMA is an online platform for the auctioning and trade of gas transport capacity within the European Union. PRISMA aims to facilitate the (early) implementation of the Network Code on Capacity Allocation Mechanisms (CAM) which comes into force November 2015. It provides a single platform through which TSOs and shippers may auction transport capacity at primary and secondary market level. The platform is designed to handle harmonised capacity products, offer auction mechanisms and serve different TSO backend systems in accordance with the CAM Network Code. It is therefore a major step towards an integrated European gas market, linking the markets of 13 countries in the core of Europe.

With full ownership by its 22 shareholders and international workforce, PRISMA benefits from a union of high level, broad based expertise in European gas markets. The platform and its staff are flexible in dealing with and responding to regional gas market demands and requirements.

Registered users will benefit from:

  •    Easy access to the capacity market
  •    Single shipper registration for all participating TSOs
  •    One tool for primary and secondary trading capacity
  •    Detailed overview on all bookable network points and available transport capacity
  •    Primary capacity auctions of yearly, quarterly, month-ahead and day-ahead products
