Biogas

The federal government wants to protect the climate by reducing the annual CO2 emissions . Biogas produced from renewable resources in natural gas quality is an efficient way to do this.

Each cubic meter of biogas instead of natural gas in the net improves the already good CO2 balance: The burning of biogas produces only as much CO2 as the plants consumed during growth. It further reduces Germany's dependence on gas imports.

In 2030 the Federal Government sees a potential of an annual ten billion cubic meters biogas, about one-tenth the amount of gas we consume annually in Germany. This biogas is preferably to get into the gas grid.

The network operators transport the biogas via the existing gas network to consumers throughout Germany. Just as natural gas, biogas can be used to generate electricity and heat, as a fuel or chemical feedstock.

ONTRAS therefore supports this goal as a transmission system operator active and out of conviction - not only because we are obliged, according to Geman Law. We care about the connection of biogas to the gas grid - from initial inquiry through a formal network connection request through to design, build and operate the incoming feeder. The sooner we learn of such a biogas project, the better we can advance together with the connection owner, the realisation of the network connection.

ONTRAS promotes the opening up of biogas potentials also by providing services in the context of network connection request and the planning and construction of power lines.
